This Garden Retreat project focused on creating an interior gourmet kitchen complete with a built-in niche coffee station and large island, adding a mudroom/friend entry, and connecting the interior spaces to the outdoors. The outdoor living retreat is nestled into a wooded lot and accented with natural stone making the coming of spring eventful! The warmth of the wood burning fireplace and stone hearth embrace the space and provide varied seating opportunities for intimate activities such as bird watching and entertaining.

Prior to the Garden Retreat project, the kitchen was dark and dated. The original brick exterior wall had an uninviting side entry to the home. Seeing these obstacles as opportunities helped Dawn Christine transform this home to have an inviting patio entry into the newly crafted outdoor living spaces. Expanding the kitchen not only improved the kitchen layout, but gave us the opportunity to create a friend entry at the side of the home which is now used more frequently than the front door. The new retaining walls create the perfect variety of outdoor areas for entertaining small groups or large groups.
